Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 11, 2026
This policy explains how MacMagical processes information when you use its lookup tools and information pages. MacMagical is operated by Roger Maragh. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to hello@rogermaragh.com.
Serial lookup information
The main lookup at macmagical.com receives the serial you enter in a POST request and compares it with local model references. Its lookup code does not write a serial history or create an account. The result can include a model-family match, reference specifications and a masked serial. Revealing a serial on screen displays the value you entered.
The Original Serial Lookup sends the serial in a URL query. That URL can remain in browser history, copied links and hosting request logs. Prefer the main lookup if you want to avoid placing a serial in a URL, and remove the serial before sharing a lookup link. A serial can identify a particular device; treat it with care.
Help questions and contact messages
The main page’s Help field receives the short question you submit and selects guidance from built-in references. It is not a support mailbox. Avoid entering names, email addresses, full serials or other private information in that field.
If you contact the operator by email, the message includes your email address and any information you choose to provide. That information can be used to respond, investigate a reported issue or handle your request. Send only what is needed, use a masked serial where possible and never send passwords or payment details.
Hosting logs, cookies and analytics
Requests to the site pass through hosting infrastructure, which may record connection and request information such as an IP address, requested URL, time and browser information. Application-level handling of a serial does not prevent infrastructure logs from recording a request. In particular, the original lookup’s URL may contain the serial.
The WordPress information pages, including About Us, Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, load a Google tag through Google Site Kit. Google Analytics can receive page visits, browser and device information and interactions, and can use cookies or similar identifiers according to the site’s tag configuration and your browser settings. The custom main lookup is a separate interface; its current page does not load that Google tag.
WordPress can also use cookies when someone signs in to administer the site. The lookup does not require a visitor account. A separate PrivateDesk promotional banner on the WordPress pages uses browser session storage to remember when it is closed.
Links to other services
Links may open Apple, iFixit, Google, retailers or other external sites. Generated resource searches use model or part information rather than the serial you entered. When you follow a link, the destination receives your connection and any search information in that link and handles it under its own policies. Check the destination before providing personal information or making a purchase.
For information about Google’s handling and controls, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics opt-out information.
Your choices and requests
- Use the main lookup to keep the serial out of the lookup URL.
- Keep serials masked when sharing screenshots, reports or email messages.
- Use your browser’s cookie, storage and privacy controls. Blocking scripts or cookies can affect parts of a page.
- Contact hello@rogermaragh.com to ask about information you supplied, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern.
Identify the information or message involved so the operator can locate it. A request may require enough verification to protect another person’s information. Available rights and any required retention depend on the applicable law and the information involved. This policy does not promise that infrastructure records are absent or that every record can be deleted immediately.
Retention and protection
The main lookup code does not maintain a saved serial history. Hosting logs, analytics records and email correspondence are separate records, and their retention varies by record and service. Contact the operator if you need details about the handling or retention of a particular record.
The site uses HTTPS. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Avoid submitting information the lookup does not need.
Policy updates
Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. The contact address above can be used for questions about the current policy.
